It was possibly the most successful campaign ever conducted by the British Army.  The mission was accomplished, with only 5 fatalities, one accidental (Col R A Dunn, CO 33rd Foot) and four others to accident or disease. In addition the logistics planning was first rate, unlike the Crimean War. On top of that, two 'Dukes' were awarded the Victoria Cross.
