The Yorkshire Regiment Remembrance Service
This November marks the Centenary of the end of the Great War 100 years ago. To commemorate this, a Service of Remembrance is being held on Saturday 3rd November at 1030 hrs in the Regimental Chapel (York Minster) which will pay tribute to our servicemen and women past and present, and to the Fallen from that war and subsequently.
The itinerary of the day is as follows:
0945 - Standards Parade under RHQ control for rehearsal
0945 - Band in place
1015 - All seated
1030 - Service begins
1130 - Form up under RHQ Staff and march around York Minster
1200 - Lunch at Worsley Barracks, Fulford Rd, York.
Service. (contents of the Service tbc)
March Past. After the Service, it is intended that there will be a March Past, around York Minster, led by the Band of The Yorkshire Regiment, with the Salute being taken by the Colonel of the Regiment. A Band Request has already been submitted.
Attendance. Despite the fact that all three battalions of the Regiment will be deployed abroad to some extent at that time, it is anticipated that there will be representation from each. An invitation is extended to the regimental family as follows:
a. Senior Officers. Col Regt will attend and take the Salute; other Snr officers, Regimental and Regional, including retired officers, will also be invited separately.
b. 1, 2 & 4 YORKS
c. Those serving at ‘E’
f. ACFs (30 YORKS cap badged cadets per County Battalion)
g. CCF Detachments YORKS cap badged cadets)
h. Yorkshire Regiment Association this includes the antecedent regiments
i. Mayors of Freedom Towns and Cities.
j. Family members of all the above
Standards. Branch Standards from the antecedent regiments are invited to join those of the YRA on the altar. Please submit names to Maj Ralph.
Car Parking: There are plenty of car parks within walking distance of York Minster. Anyone requiring Disabled Parking should contact Maj Ralph in advance
Lunch: After the Service and March Past, those attending are invited to make their way to Worsley Barracks for a Curry Lunch. A small charge of £5 pp. will be made to non-serving guests.
Returns: Please complete the attached pro-forma and enclose any relevant payment (or confirm electronic transfer has taken place) by Friday 28th September.
