Bligny Sunday 2019

Leeds Minster

Members of the Regimental family may wish to attend the annual Bligny Sunday commemorations in Leeds Minster, marking the award of the Croix de Guerre to the Leeds Rifles for gallantry in the capture of Montaigne de Bligny on 28th July 1918. Also, remembering the victory in Italy 1944. 

Itinerary: The ceremony commences at Leeds Minster at 10:30AM and continues with an Act of Remembrance at the Leeds Rifles Memorial on Kirkgate, Leeds. A military and civic party will be in attendance. 

This year also marks 160 years since the Leeds Rifles were formed and 50 years since they became part of the Yorkshire Volunteers, now part of The Yorkshire Regiment.
