Support for Veterans in Custody

SSAFA are setting up a support network for veterans in custody throughout Yorkshire and Humberside.

A 2-day course and briefing will be run in Yorkshire with an overnight stay in either an Officers’ Mess, or hotel, and at the end it, it will be up to you to decide to volunteer or not. SSAFA point out that they make sure no volunteer will be out of pocket and travel allowance is 40p per mile.

The role may entail a couple of days a month visiting prison and mentoring someone leaving prison. The main focus will be on people who are about to be discharged from prison.

SSAFA are looking for veterans who have the confidence to enter a very intimidating environment and to help offer a way forward to fellow veterans leaving prison and helping them to make a new start.

Why not come along, get the briefing and the training and then make a decision whether to help or not?
